‘Over but not out’ 03-09-08
By Barney Murindagomo
Zimbabwe soccer champions Dynamos says they are down but not out. This follows the one nil loss at the hands of Al Ahly in an African champions league match played at Rufaro stadium on Saturday. The loss means the Glamour boys now need to win their two remaining matches against Asec Mimosas and Zamaleck for their progression to the next phase.
Club chairman Patson Moyo says it’s too early to rule Dembare out of the competition.
“Well its premature to say we are out really all we need to do is to win the next two matches then its done we are through,” said Moyo.
Asec Mimosa beat Zamaleck By three goals to nil in the other match opening the gap for second position to DeMbare who need nothing short of victory in the coming matches.
“We gave the Egyptians too much respect and paid for it. However we were also bold enough to ask for some advice from them after the match and we got some pointers on how we can improve our play. The match was an eye opener and we hope to do better, said Moyo.
The Dembare technical department has remained tight lipped about what happened on Saturday and will now be focusing on Thursday’s match against Turnall in their CBZ FA cup first round match. This comes after the postponement of their league match against Chapungu that had been scheduled for Friday.
The premier soccer league programme continues to be squashed as it will also make way for the Warriors match against Guinea which is on this Sunday at Rufaro.
Meanwhile here are the lined up fixtures
Tomorrow:
CBZ League: CAPS United v Shooting Stars (Rufaro)
Friday: CAPS FC v Lengthens (Gwanzura)
Saturday: Masvingo United v Monomotapa (Mucheke)
Sunday: Highlanders v Kiglon (B/F)
CBZ FA Cup
Thursday 4 September: Dynamos v Turnall (Rufaro)
